When Cliff Hudson was a teen-ager, his father, the late Ray Hudson, an auto-mechanic himself, warned him about working as a mechanic. “My father did everything but whip me to keep me from working on cars”. But, now, as president of Hudson’s Import Service since 1978 he realizes that his father was his inspiration.

At just 15 years of age, Cliff accepted his first auto-repair job. While attending Wando High School he worked part-time, doing anything anyone at the garage wanted him to do; janitor, gofer, whatever it took to be in that environment. He was taking automotive courses at school and was recognized by Ford Motor Company for his achievements.

After working in the field at Toyota dealerships in the area for several years, Hudson began taking on additional work after hours which eventually led to the beginning of Hudson’s Import Service in 1978. Through customer demand, he opened his first shop off of Coleman Blvd in what was just a lean-to type shed. Three years later, due to rapidly increasing demand, the business relocated to a larger facility on what is now Stuart Ingalls Blvd, and just a few years later, moved into their current even larger facility on Johnnie Dodds Blvd, where they have been located since 1990.

Cliff is “hands-on” in his shop. There is rarely a day when he is not one-on-one with his technicians, ensuring that accurate diagnosis and quality service and repairs are the product of Hudson’s Import Service. His thoroughness and dedication to this process is evident at every level. Cliff currently sits on the Automotive Advisory Board for the automotive department at Trident Technical College and holds the highest ASE certification of Master Automobile Technician.

John McDowell

Service Manager
When it comes to the Japanese imports, we are fortunate to have one of the most experienced and knowledgeable technicians in our area as part of our team. “Johnny” is our Service Manager for the Japanese import line and has import car service and parts experience dating back to 1978. His thoroughness and commitment are key factors in helping us achieve our high standards of automotive service.

Stephanie Shieder (nee Taylor)

Business Manager
Stephanie has been part of the Hudson’s Import team almost since its inception in 1978. She is responsible for the overall operation of the front office as well as marketing, promotions, and bookkeeping and assists with estimating of repairs and service. She is also Shop Management Certified in Mitchell Manager Plus shop management software and is currently pursuing her accreditation as an Accredited Automotive Manager with the Automotive Management Institute.

Phillip Gandy

Sales Manager
Phillip who has worked with Cliff since 2006 in Used Car Sales, manages the newly formed Used Car sales Division of Hudson’s Import bringing over 20 years of automotive-related experience in sales, service and repair.

Phillip is one of the first members of our team you will meet and is ready to assist you whether you need maintenance, repair or are looking for a reliable used car.

Marc Olivetti

With over 20 years of automotive experience, Marc leads his fellow technicians in diagnostics and repairs and is responsible for helping maintain our high standards of service and repairs. Marc has been recognized by VW of North America for outstanding achievement and commitment to excellence, and is a factory trained Audi Technical Specialist. He also holds ASE Certifications.

Sean Rogerson

Sean has over seven years of automotive experience and holds several ASE Certifications. He has specialized training in on board computer diagnostic systems and front end/suspension repair and alignment. Sean and John, Service Manager, work closely together to ensure top quality repair and service for our customers with Japanese imports.

Gains Hudson


Gains, Cliff’s son, has recently completed the 2 year Automotive Technology program at Trident Technical College and has joined our team. His high level of achievement in that program and his ASE Certification, combined with his natural mechanical talent, makes him a true asset. Gains’ passion and hobby is the driving and intimate knowledge of the Nissan 240SX, which makes him a natural for servicing and repairing Asian imports, but his talents also extend well into the European line.

Frank Myers

Frank has been with Hudson’s Import for over 12 years and plays a crucial part each day in customer service and shop operation. If you have had the pleasure of having Frank chauffer you to or from your home or office you know he is an asset to our team.

You may choose from a variety of vehicles, in stock and ready for immediate delivery, or we will personally attempt to locate the vehicle of your choice.
