- Checked vehicle starting and charging systems, condition of vehicle battery and checked for amount of parasitic draw. Starter draw, parasitic draw and vehicle battery all check within specifications at this time. Alternator drive (decoupler) pulley is failing and at times, this is allowing the internal clutch in the pulley to slip which causes the alternator to rotate too slowly. Research revealed that a generic replacement alternator could be sourced at less cost that the pulley alone from Audi. For that reason, replacement of the alternator is suggested as the first repair attempt
- Disassemble as necessary to remove and replace alternator assembly
