- Confirmed customer's complaint. The initial inspection revealed that the engine air intake boot has been recently replaced and while the installation was poorly performed, this is not the cause of the symptom reported by the customer. Accessed on board computer to check for codes. In the engine control unit found fault code P 0302 = Engine misfire cylinder # 2. On this model, removal of the engine intake manifold is required to access the ignition coils and the spark plugs and several of the fasteners related to the intake manifold have been compromised during some previous repair. The manifold was removed which revealed that all 4 ignition coils and spark plugs have been replaced. The spark plugs presently installed are the preferred brand for this application but in our opinion, not the preferred part number for this application. The ignition coils installed are a generic brand and in our opinion, not of high quality. One of the coils is also the cause of the symptom; spark is arcing out the side of the coil for cylinder # 2 which is causing the misfire. Replacement of all (4) coils and spark plugs is the recommended and preferred repair along with an attempt to correct all of the issues with the fasteners for the intake manifold
- NOTE: Replacing of the fasteners that were found missing was not a concern to the customer this visit
- Remove and replace engine accessory drive belt
